In class we discussed the reason why differnet people who have helped develop the internet haven't charged for their ideas and advancements. I found this video on youtube of Tim Berners-Lee discussing how he feels the internet is a key source to drive innovation amongst its users.
He says when CERN decided to not charge people to link up to the internet it helped the "openness" of the internet. When asked if he thinks the rate of internet innovation will slow down he is confident in saying no, it will do just the opposite and the idea of it leveling off is "a little crazy".
This video is actually quite interesting and i would definitely recommend watching! It is nice to be able to match a name with a face.
