Everything is a Remix

This is A remix of a four-part documentary by Kirby Ferguson in which he argues that everything is a remix, and that all original material builds off of and remixes previously existing material. This goes along perfectly with the video we watched by Brett Gaylor titled Rip: A Remix Manifesto . I think that this video is awesome because it really emphasizes how really and truly everything is built off of other works and nothing is truly original.

How to Embed Tweets Onto Your Blog

At First I thought "Oh yeah this will be easy its just like a picture." well no, it is not like a picture and it took me quite a long time to figure out how to do it. Here are step by step instructions to how this is for your future blog posts. If you encounter any problems check out this trouble shooter site!

1. At the bottom right of the tweet there is a more button, click that and click the option Embed Tweet

 2. copy the HTML that is in the box and copy it into your blog post in HTML mode. This is where I messed up becuse I was copying it in compose mode and it shows up as the same thing that you pasted in. But once you change it to HTML mode the picture shows.

HENRY JENKINS TWEETED ME

Okay ya'll sorry for all the Henry Jekins post but this one was very necessary. He tweeted at me! This is how the conversation went:

The Spread of Media

In class we talked about viral videos and how you never know what will go viral or not. Well, A girl from my High School was doing a back flip and completely fell on her face. A couple months later the video showed up on Tosh.o. The way that stuff travels because of the internet is amazing. There was one point in history were this event would have only been seen by a couple hundred but now with the new technology and internet sharing its been viewed over 83,000 times on YouTube.

Aaron Shwartz

This year pioneering computer programmer and cyber activist Aaron Swartz, committed suicide after being prosecuted for downloading 4 million academic journals to share with the public for free. This article talks about Lawrence Lessig's view on the event, this is what he says, "This was somebody who was pushed to the edge by what I think of as a kind of bullying by our government."

Internet Essential to School?

This video was very interesting because in it Henry Jenkins talks about how important technology more specifically the internet is for students education. In class we talked about all the sites that were blocked in middle schools or in high schools and this leads perfectly into this video. He talks about how it is important to not block things from students because the internet will be involved in every part of their lives after school and they need to learn how to work it in school. He says that the most shocking thing that is blocked to him is YouTube. He says that teachers are afraid to use the internet because they think they will lose control of the classroom.
